Chex Mix and Kroger- A Review and Giveaway

***Giveaway has ended.  Winner has been chosen.**

If you know our family, you know we love Chex cereal and the mixes that it allows us to make.  A few of our favorites are the Muddy Buddies (also known as "trash" or Monkey munch or Puppy Chow) and the original Chex mix or what I grew up calling it, Nuts and Bolts.  A few weeks ago we tried the new Lemon Buddies mix and that was really good too!  And I know my husband would LOVE the new Ginger-Honey crunch mix.
We have already made one batch of Muddy Buddies this year and will probably make at least 2 more!  And the new Chex PB and Chocolate Blast mix looks AWESOME!  Chex mix is the best treat and an awesome gift!

Looking for a neat Christmas gift for a teacher or co-worker?  How about one of these mixes in a colorful tin or jar?!  So simple and yummy!  I know I would enjoy a Christmas treat that I didn't have to prepare!!!

And Kroger wants to help and has sweetened the season with a special offer, for 3 weeks, beginning December 2nd thru December 25th, they will offer their lowest price on Chex cereals!  What a sweet deal!

Chex and Kroger, through My Blog Spark, has offered for me to do a giveaway!  You will receive 2 boxes of Chex cereals as well as a $25 gift card to Kroger!  What an awesome way to help out during this busy baking and goody making!

So, here is how to enter:

1) Comment telling me what mix you plan on making this Holiday season.
2) Like Hyperactive Lu Reviews (on the sidebar) or Hyperactive Lu on Facebook.

And thats it folks!  Since its so close to Christmas, this giveaway will be short!  We will choose the winner on Monday, December 20th.  :o)  Good luck!

**A big thank you to Chex, Kroger and MyBlogSpark for allowing me to do the review and giveaway.  I received no monetary gift for posting about this giveaway or review.  I did receive the same "gift pack" that I am giving away, which was 2 boxes of Chex cereal and a $25 gift card to Kroger**

Chex Mix Get-Together and Giveaway

**Comments have been closed and a winner has been chosen**

My family and I are long time fans of Chex Mixes and the chex cereals!  For as long as I can remember my Grandmother has been making "nuts and bolts" or the original chex mix.  Shortly after moving to Georgia, my parents neighbor brought over some delicious Chex Mix (Muddy Buddies) and I was won over!  Ever since Hubbie and I have been married, we've been making Muddy Buddies every Christmas as one of our yearly treats!!!

On Tuesday, we were blessed to have some new friends come to our house for lunch and a playdate!  I had just received our Chex Mix pack which included a box of Chex cereal, the recipe (available at your local Wal-Mart) for a new Chex Lemon Buddies mix and a few other goodies!  I decided to go ahead and make the new Chex mix for our guests.... not knowing if the kids would like it!  I don't know why I thought they wouldn't, because the mix was gobbled up by EVERYONE....including my 15 mo old!  They all seemed to love the mix!  My older boys continued to ask for more!  It was definitely a hit!

our lunch spread with the yummy new Chex treat

MyBlogSpark and General Mills has given me the opportunity to spread the love and giveaway the Chex Mix Party pack to a lucky reader!  The party pack includes a box of Rice Chex, a measuring cup set and a Chex Mix tote bag (which is really big and heavy duty).

To enter, leave a comment and tell me what your favorite Chex Mix is!
You already know my favorites and I want to hear yours!  Giveaway ends in one week from today!
I will announce the winner next Saturday, December 18th.

Good luck!

**Disclosure:  All opinions and words are my own.  I did not receive any monetary compensation for this post.  I received the Chex Mix party pack from MyBlogSpark through General Mills which included a box of Chex cereal, a tote, a bowl and spoon and the measuring cup set.  As well as a $10 visa gift card to purchase supplies for the Chex Mix that was served at our playdate.**

ecoSTORE review

Some time ago, I was asked by ecoSTORE USA to do a review on a few of their products.  They graciously gave me the option of picking a few items from their store to review!  I was in hog-heaven!  My girlfriend, Dana, had given me a few of their baby products at my baby shower and ever since then, I've been trying to figure out how to get these items into our budget!

ecoSTORE USA sells eco friendly products at an affordable price.  I love this part on ecoSTORE's website...

"The original customer base of ecostore NZ was comprised of mostly ‘Greenies’ and organic gardeners. However, it was not long before testimonials from other parents (many of whom were unaware of the benefits of eco-friendly products) began to pour in with wonderful news of their children's allergies and eczema clearing up. Many noted that any respiratory issues were healing, and many lingering chronic conditions were disappearing."

I think that is one of the best things you can do for your children- giving them pure, wholesome ingredients- whether its for their tummies or for their skin!  So many studies come out on a weekly basis about the chemicals that are found in shampoo and make up and simple things like chapstick!  Its insane!

ecoSTORE USA does its best to keep their items at an affordable price.  Every time I've gone to their website to take a gander and figure out how to fit, what we need, in our budget, there has always been a coupon code, a freebie or a sale!  Something that makes it worth your while!  And I've found, that going to local organic/natural product stores have a very similar, if not higher price, than ordering off line.

One of the things that I picked, was the body wash for myself!  I figured that I've always researching or picking out items for the kids...why not get myself something?!  I thoroughly enjoyed using my body wash in the fresh and clean scent of Coconut/Vanilla.  I even used it as a shaving aid for my legs!  Now this, if you know me really well, know that this is a BIG deal!  I have such horrible skin issues...  we jokingly said, when I was growing up, that I needed to marry a dermatologist!  I have so many skin issues!  But anyway, using this while shaving didn't cause any irritation!  It was great!!!

I also picked out the laundry powder.  I really had a hard time figuring out what I was going to blog about with this one cause.....  its laundry detergent!  Whats to say!?  But in all honesty, it did clean my clothes!  The scent wasn't overpowering.  Not sure I would purchase it again, just because I know I can make my own for a tad bit cheaper, but thats just my opinion!!!  If you want something that you don't have to worry about the chemicals in it, then this is for you!

A big, big, BIG thank you to the ecoSTORE for allowing me to do this fun review!  I love their products and I know you will too!

*No monetary gift was given in exchange for this blog post.  I received the two items listed in exchange for my honest opinion.  All opinions in this blog post are mine.

Curious George LIVE!

My family and I had the privilege of going to Greenville, SC today to attend the opening day of Curious George LIVE!  When I was given the opportunity by Vee Corporation and the wonderful folks at U.S. Family Guide, I jumped at the chance because our boys watch Curious George on PBS Kids every.single.day!

I was very impressed with the Bi-Lo Center, in Greenville, SC, where the event was held!  Everything was clean and there were so many kind event workers that were able to help us find our seats, etc.  Much better than our local event center!  Also, the seating that the center had roped off for the opening event, this morning, was quite close to the stage!  Even if you had gotten the "cheapest" tickets, you'd still be very close and the kids would still feel apart of the action!

This is the first live stage event for Curious George and it was definitely worth the trip!  Like I said, we are already fans of Curious George, but I thought the production was done wonderfully!  It reminded me a lot of the Thomas the Tank Engine LIVE event that we were able to attend last year.  The songs were catchy and beautifully sung.  The dancing and choreography kept the children engaged and attentive in the show!   During this production, Curious George is on a mission to help Chef Pisghetti save his restaurant!  I think most kids would definitely feel sorry for Chef Pisghetti, who was very upset during the production, but I looked over at my oldest, Bubbie and he was wiping his eyes!  My poor sensitive soul- was very sad for the Chef!  I assured him that the Curious George show ALWAYS has a happy ended and this wouldn't be any different.... and it didn't disappoint him!  Curious George saved the day!  And the ending was very cute!  Bubbie was so happy for the outcome!

This was such a blessing for our family and a huge thank you to U.S. Family Guide and Vee Corporation!  We had a wonderful experience attending this event and will have memories for a lifetime!

One eskimO Review

I was recently sent a new CD from the fine folks at One2One Network.  It is called One eskimO and I really enjoyed it!  I am all for trying new music and I was disappointed.  This cd is a wonderful mix of light pop, earthly/soulful and the type of music you normally hear in a coffee shop.  The first time I turned the CD on, I was working on the computer and it was a soothing background noise after a long, stressful day.  Definitely helped me unwind and de-stress!

To listen to some of their songs, go here.  My favorite was Astronaunt.  I really like the singer's voice, Kristian Leontiou.

Just in case you're interested, here are the tour dates:

Read and Share: The Jesus Series Life and Miracles DVD Review

I review for BookSneeze

I was given the opportunity to review The Jesus Series DVD Read and Share Bible by BookSneeze (formerly Thomas Nelson Book Review).

Found on Thomas Nelson product page:

Take a wonder-filled journey with Jesus and His disciples.
Animated straight from the pages of the popular Read and Share® Bible, The Jesus Series introduces children to the life of Christ. Unlike the 3-minute, bite-size story format of the Read and Share® DVD BibleVolumes 1-4, this DVD is an uninterrupted half-hour presentation of Jesus' ministry along the shores of Lake Galilee and the villages near Nazareth. Children will see Jesus call His disciples, feed 5,000 people, heal the sick, teach about God’s kingdom and introduce the Lord’s Supper.
This DVD completes The Jesus Series by presenting the life of Christ in a way that little ones can understand and build a solid foundation on.

I have been searching for an accurate Kid's Bible and thought that perhaps, if I got a DVD, the kids would take a bit more interest in the Bible stories and we could use it as a video for family movie night.  I knew Baby Bean and maybe Peanut wouldn't be ready for this, but its always nice to have something that the babies can grow into.

We got this 30 min animated DVD on a cold, rainy afternoon and was a wonderful thing to watch while the kids ate their lunch.  Immediately, the boys were hooked!  Bubbie seemed very interested in the stories and even commented "Momma, I hear God's voice!" which made me chuckle to myself.  The stories seemed pretty accurate and walked through several New Testament stories, such as Jesus calling his disciples and feeding the 5,000.  Bubbie also remembered several of the other stories that he had learned about in Bible class or VBS last year.  Peanut kept saying "Momma, JESUS! JESUS!"  but that was about all he got from the DVD.

Not only is this a DVD for the whole family to enjoy, but it can also be put into your disc drive on your computer and you can print out coloring pages and other teaching aids that go along with the stories!  What a wonderful way to really bring the stories alive!

I like having Biblically based DVD and shows for my children to watch and I feel very comfortable allowing my kids to watch this without me sitting in the same room.  The pictures are clear and colorful and I know this movie allowed the Bible to come alive for Bubbie in a small way!

Thank You Mom Reunion Contest

I am very blessed to live in the same town as my Mom.  I don't know what I would do without her (and my Dad) sometimes.  Now..... I am a realist and one day we will probably be in separate towns, but for now, I am loving the opportunity for my children to grow up with involvement from their grandparents.

P&G is having a contest for all of those children that live quite a distance away from their Mothers.  Its called "Thank You Mom Reunion" and its a contest!  The contest is to help reunite Moms and their children for special family moments that they might normally miss- like birthdays and graduations.  This contest will bring together 105 mothers/children!

I know, if I lived away from my mother and someone was offering the opportunity to win a travel voucher so that I could spend time with my Mother, I would jump on it, which is why I am passing along the information!

In order to win one of the 105 (15 a mo for 10 mos) reunions, you must 100 word essay describing why you'd like to be reunited with your Mother.  Consumers will vote!  The winners will also win a portable digital video camera in order to capture the sweet and special moments!

I don't know if there is anything quite like watching your mother playing with your children.  I have enjoyed seeing a different side to my mother.  She is much more laid back with my kids than she ever was with us.  My mother focuses on making memories with all her grandchildren.

The contest began on May 6th, but you still have plenty of time to enter, so go here now!

*I received no compensation for this post, but by posting this I am eligible to win one of 10 gift cards with monetary value.

Rainbow Brite Adventure Pack Review and Giveaway

You want a blast from the past?!  Do you remember Rainbow Brite and all her friends?!  Most of my friends are older than I am, so they all probably remember Rainbow Brite better than I do.  I know I had a Rainbow Brite doll, because I remember twirling her long colorful hair while watching boyish cartoons in my brother's room.  But I do remember watching the show!  In my self defense, I was only 4 or 5yrs old when the show went off the air, so my memories are very vague and tiny snap shots!

I was given the new Rainbow Brite Adventure Pack from the wonderful MomSelect to review.  I didn't know whether the boys would watch the show or not, but they thought it was kinda neat since it was a show that Mommy watched when she was little.  I think Peanut loved watching Twink and Starlite more than the actual show.  And of course, they loved dancing to the song!  After a while, Bubbie said it was a girly show, but I enjoyed the walk down memory lane!

Hallmark has a really neat website with games and activities and short stories!  Also, coming to a story near you, the Rainbow Brite doll that even comes with its own Twink sprite!

If you would also like to take a walk down memory lane, leave a comment and I will send you your very own Rainbow Brite Adventure Pack which includes a short animated story, games and puzzles, the theme song and much much more!  I have 9 to give away so comment away!!!

I was given 1 cd to review and 9 to giveaway by the fabulous MomSelect!  Thank you for this opportunity!

Suave Wash Them Grow Review and Sweepstakes

I don't know about your kids, but mine LOVE body wash and special bath soaps!  Mostly because of the "character" or animal on the front!  They couldn't care less about the smell or if it cleans them or not!  Because of that, when I saw the opportunity to participate in the Suave Kids Wash Them Grow program, I jumped at the chance.

We received 4 bottles of Suave Kids Body Wash and they immediately chose their favorites!  Bubbie loved the Berry Body Wash.  To us it became the "monkey" one that smells like strawberries!   Peanut, even though he was sick, chose the Free and Gentle Body Wash, "the seal", which is a favorite for me,  because it is dye free and won't irritate the kids skin!

Along with the 4 bottles of kids body wash, I also received some Bath Tips from Other Moms.  Here are a few:

  • Water guns are a fun accessory in the bath!  My 2 kids play together in the tub- it makes them laugh and its a great bonding time for my boys.
  • Homework, Shower then Dessert.  No Shower No Dessert.
  • To get soap out of her hair we practice the back float.
  • We're so busy that often bath time doubles as story time before we send the kids off to bed.  It kills two birds with one stone but also is fun family time at the end of a long day.
In addition to being able to use these great products that my family already uses, I am also allowed to tell my readers about a fun contest going on called Wash Them Grow Sweepstakes.  You have the chance to win weekly prizes.  Not only do you get a chance to win, but I do too! The MomSelect blogger who drives the most traffic to the sweepstakes will win a year’s supply of Suave Kids® products and a $100 gift card to Build-A-Bear Workshop – and you’ll get to choose 10 of your readers who will each win the same fantastic prize!

Go here to enter daily!

A big thank you to the friends at MomSelect and Suave for allowing me to review and link to this contest!

* I was given the materials to review- 4 bottles of Suave Kids Body Wash and the opportunity to win a year's supply of Suave Kids products and $100 gift card to Build-A-Bear.

Cereal Lovin' Family

I don't know about your family, but mine LOVES cereal.  We love cereal so much that I tried to stop buying cereal in order to cut our grocery budget.  That didn't last but a month or two.  Then I realized that with Publix grocery stores BuyOneGetOneFree sales in addition to my coupons, I could get cereal for around $1 (I don't pay more than $1.50 for a box), so my family was very happy and I began to buy cereal again.

Not only do I love cereal because its a quick and can be a healthy option for breakfast, but its also a great snack for the boys.  Every afternoon Bubbie asks for a "mix" for his snack.  We usually include Cheerios, marshmallows, crackers and some raisins or fruit snacks in a cup for an afternoon snack.  He loves it and I feel as though he's getting something good for him since I am giving him cereal along with the awfully kid addicting fruit snacks.

A few weeks ago MyBlogSpark gave me the opportunity to review General Mills cereals by giving me several coupons for a free box of  cereal.  What a treat this was!  Something that we would use and that we already loved!  General Mills has some of our favorite cereals including Cheerios and Fruity Cheerios!

The wonderful folks at General Mills and My Blog Spark have also allowed me to link to a great coupon also.

There are a lot of health benefits to eating a healthy breakfast.  General Mills has gathered some statistics regarding people who eat breakfast vs. those who go without.  Go here to read more.

I do believe that cereal can be apart of a healthy breakfast.  I know it is for our family!
